The Red Hook Education Foundation (RHEF) Is Recruiting New Board Members!
RHEF provides funding to the Red Hook Central School District in the form of grants, aid to students in need, and financial support for district initiatives that bring new opportunities to Red Hook students that inspire innovation and a love of learning.
RHEF is seeking new members interested in collaborating across the community to support some of Red Hook’s greatest assets: our schools and the children they serve. Our primary goal is to develop a board that reflects the diversity and interests of the next generation of families who best represent the whole of our community.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking energetic, motivated people who are interested in helping us reassess our priorities. As this is an all-volunteer, working board, members must be willing to be hands-on and play an active role in monthly meetings, events and activities, and fundraising efforts.
Board Responsibilities:
- Attend monthly board meetings
- Review, discuss, and vote on grant requests
- Take an active role in fundraising activities
- Collaborate with district administrators and teachers on district-led initiatives
- Coordinate activities with a wide range of community partners
- Commit to being present, to listening actively to community and board needs, and to communicating clearly and honestly

About the Foundation
The mission of the Red Hook Education foundation is to enhance public education for students in our community by funding programs that promote equity and inspire excellence. RHEF was founded on the belief that schools are our community’s greatest asset. It is a 501c3, independently operated public charity. Over the past 11 years the foundation has raised over $600,000. These funds have benefited the district and its students in a wide variety of ways. Funding has gone towards the annual Summer Academy, which offers an impressive array of free courses for high school students during the summer months. We have partnered with the PTA in presenting “Family Fun Night” at Mill Road. This past year Student in Need funds have provided prepaid cards from Hannafords and Walmart to struggling families. In past years, the same fund has been used to meet student needs for such items as eyeglasses and for covering AP exam fees. One of our proudest achievements has been working with the district, state, and local representatives, and community groups to make the Auditorium a reality.
