Since 2020, RHEF has been the proud supporter of bringing Shakespeare to Red Hook students in grades 5-8. Under the leadership and direction of Cindy Kubik and Emily Houpt, Raiders become actors, stagehands, and more as they learn about Shakespeare and perform his plays–like Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Macbeth, to name a few. In these performances, everyone who auditions gets a part and all become familiar with the Bard’s language and lasting influence on our world. Most importantly–they experience Shakespeare on the stage, rather than just on the page—and with the auditorium, it’s quite a stage to be on.
