The Student in Need Fund, housed within the Red Hook Education Foundation (RHEF), offers critical financial assistance to Red Hook Central School District students and families. A cornerstone of RHEF’s annual fundraising and programmatic approach, the Fund offers year-round support for essential items, such as eye exams, eyeglasses, winter clothing, school supplies, yearbooks, college application fees, exam fees and field trip costs, as well as other unexpected expenses. Most recently, the fund provided prepaid cards for Hannaford’s and Walmart during the pandemic and helped cover tuition for high school students enrolled in Dutchess Community College Classes. Throughout the school year, each building-level principal is provided discretionary seed funds, replenished as needed, which allow for rapid response to pressing student needs or more targeted projects. Teachers may also coordinate directly with principals, nursing staff and counselors to access funds on behalf of students, as opportunities arise.
Total funds spent on project to date: $22,230
